About Us

South Eastern Rugby League Football Club, founded in 1957 is based at our picturesque home ground of Pioneers Park, on Anzac Parade at Malabar.

From little things, big things grow and South Eastern has evolved into the largest Junior Rugby League Club in the South Sydney Junior League District with teams ranging in age from Under 5s to A Grade. All players can Register and take the field of play once they turn 4 years of age.

Our hardworking team of Coaches, Trainers, Managers and Volunteers support a Club Executive who are driven to provide boys and girls in our area with the opportunity to enjoy the game of Rugby League, emphasizing on developing the participants skills, increasing participation and learning the spirit of teamwork, discipline, commitment and achievement. Above all else, we encourage our club members to have fun and be an integral part of our community.

We also rely heavily on the expertise and financial assistance given to us by Randwick City Council and the South Sydney Junior rugby League District and our Club Sponsors. South Eastern Rugby League Football Club (SEFC) encourages and welcomes all new players, Male and Female, to our club and the wonderful game that is Rugby League.

Training is generally Tuesday’s & Thursday’s at Pioneer Park Malabar with game days on Saturdays for the (girls only comp) and Sundays for the Boys and Girls combined teams.

TRAINING SEASON 2022

Mini & Mod League

The Junior Rugby League season for 2022 kicks off on the first Tuesday of March at Pioneers Park at 4pm for Mini & Mod players (Under 5-Under 12).

Mini/Mod Training takes place each Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm commencing Tuesday 1st March 2022

International training commences 15th Feb 2022 .

This is for Under 13 up to and including AGrade / Open Age. New players welcome. Pioneers Park Malabar Tuesday and Thursdays 5-6pm. Subject to change. Speak to the coach.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR MANAGERS

First official game for 2022 is Round 1 – Sunday 3rd April 2022

Please ensure the following:

 All South Eastern team gear has been handed out to players.

 All Team Volunteers have been cleared for Working With Children check. This        includes Manager, Coach, Trainers, League Safe, Coach and trainer have appropriate qualifications on game day.

Book in now.

All new managers have completed registration with South Eastern prior to Trial Game. Photo’s must be uploaded at time of registration with qualifying ID before a Managers Card will be provided. Acceptable ID is Drivers Licence or Passport.

All Managers must have a player folder with each players photo and current registration.
NO Photo = NO PLAY

REQUIREMENTS FOR COACHES

COACHES

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Coach is responsible for the development of player’s skills as well as promoting positive attitudes to physical activity and sport in general.

DUTIES
Hold appropriate qualifications as stipulated by the league/region/state.
Encourage players and team support officials to abide by the rules at all times.
Encourage players and team support officials to support and respect the League Code of Conduct.
Encourage players to become involved in rugby league as a safe, healthy and enjoyable activity.
Have a sound understanding of modern coaching and teaching principles.
Maintain or improve your current accreditation level.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the laws of the game.
Have good motivational and communication skills.
Encourage players to develop a proper attitude to competitiveness.
Ensure that the coaching reflects the level of the competition being played.
Test, evaluate and refine each player’s individual skills.
Foster club spirit amongst all players and encourage them to participate in a sporting manner.
Liaise with the club’s Coaching Co-ordinator as and when required.
Support the coaching initiatives of the club and league/region/state.
Be able to evaluate player performance and provide positive coaching advice.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAM MANAGER

 

TEAM MANAGER

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Team Manager represents the team on behalf of club management and ensures all team members are kept up to date with club requirements.

DUTIES
Ensure that all players are correctly registered prior to the first game.
Ensure the safekeeping of player registration cards and that they are on the official table for each match.
Be responsible for correctly completing the sign-on sheet at the official table for each game.
Remain at or near the official table for the duration of the game and ensure that all particulars in relation to the game are correctly entered on the score sheet prior to signing by the referee.
Be responsible for handing out all club gear to team members. If any player leaves before playing
the required number of games then the Manager needs to contact the player to organise the
return of their uniform.
Ensure that all players are correctly attired for each game. It is also useful to have a pair of scissors on
hand in your Kit bag to cut players nails if necessary, otherwise they may not be able to take the field.
Ensure that all players and parents know when and where they are playing each week.
Represent the team at all club meetings.
Ensure that club newsletters are distributed to all team members and ensure that team parents are
fully informed of what is happening in the club.
Encourage maximum participation by all players and see that no player is unfairly treated in relation to
team selection.
Check weekly scores and tables on to ensure they are correct.
Have an understanding of the league/region/state rules and regulations.
Have a good working knowledge of the club constitution and rules.
Ensure all team members respect and support the club at all times.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAINERS

TRAINERS / LEAGUE SAFE AND/OR FIRST AID OFFICER

RESPONSIBILITIES
Trainers and/or FAO’s work in conjunction with the Coach and/or Trainer/FAO Co-ordinator to ensure all players reach and maintain required fitness levels and ensure they have a safe, healthy and enjoyable training and playing environment.

DUTIES
Control the warm-up, cool-down and stretching drills for all players.
Assist the coach to assess player injuries sustained during training and playing.
Report all injury concerns to the coach and club Trainer/League Safe and/or /FAO Coordinator.
Liaise regularly with club’s Trainer/League Safe and/or /FAO Co-ordinator.
Keep up to date with modern methods and techniques, especially in the area of the treatment, and rehabilitation, of injured players.
Ensure all players observe the rules in relation to head injuries.
Ensure that all necessary team first aid equipment is available.
Ensure the various equipment required by the team is available: for example, squeeze bottles and ice packs.
Ensure that all health requirements are being observed for the treatment of players by the club’s Trainers/FAO’s.
Provide details of all player injuries to the club’s Trainer/FAO Coordinator.
Hold appropriate qualifications and current accreditations at all times.
NOTES
ARL policy states that all official personnel over the age of 14 years, who enter the Field of Play to attend a player, must possess a Leaguesafe Certificate of Attendance or an accredited ARL First Aid Officers Certificate. The ARL policy further states that the minimum qualification to act as an ARL First Aid Officer is FAO Level 1.
